In the latest Simpsons episode Springfield experiences a power outage. During the looting that (of course) happens we see Lenny passing the Simpson’s house with a (obviously stolen) painting.
It’s Guernica by Pablo Picasso. I found that especially funny because one year ago i did this picture to somewhat promote ckd.org. Nearly synchronicity ;-)
I think you’ll forgive me the minor spoilers … the episode itself is an average one at best :-|

I got a few minutes left after eating dinner and before going to the Altstadt to meet Frank. I like pics of food ;-)

Yesterday was Japan Tag in Duesseldorf. Highlight of the official program was the firework at 23:00. It was impossible to take photos of that with a handheld camera of course.
Unofficial program was more fun ;-)
But I’m still too zapped to write more. I now go back to the couch and read the second book of the Illuminatus Trilogy.
If you want to know more about the Japan Tag check:

Today i’ve been to the school where Stephanie works to fix a computer. Sitting around in a school without being a pupil was fun. I fixed the parts of the problem that were possible to fix.
After that i fetched some digital prints from Schlecker i ordered/uploaded via the net. Quality was okay, not good enough for professional use i guess but it will suffice for the casual photo showing for the family when i dont want to haul the laptop around. I paid 3,83 euro for 15 prints in 10×15 cm. If you know about a better or cheaper print service please let me know.
Some entries ago i activated the voting system. You can rate +/- 1 the entries if you like. I dont know if that will have any effect what entries are made. It’s just a test and i think i’ll shut it down again if i dont like it. E.g. you give good votes on crappy entries ;-)

Where:
On the left hand side of the page you can see a list of songs. The format is
Artist – Songname
Albumname
What:
These are the last 5 songs i played on my winamp. Everytime i listen to music with winamp (which i do quite often) the list is updated dynamically.
What else:
By clicking on the artist’s name you can search for it on allmusic.com. Allmusic sports in depth information about most musicians and groups.
Who:
I got the idea from domesticat’s site.
Why:
because the static list i had before sucked so hard, egocentrism, love for geek stuff, exhibitionism, showing-off, because i’m one of the good kids that like to share, loving music, because it’s possible.

This is what the sky is looking like today.
Spend most of the day in the Rheinpark lying on the lawn and reading Illuminatus I. Unfortunately i got the {{popup erster_sonnenbrand_2k2.jpg erster_sonnenbrand_2k2 500×349}}year’s first sunburn.
Circus is {{popup zirkusplakat.jpg zirkusplakat 800×593}}coming to town. You can see {{popup zirkustruck.jpg zirkustruck 800×600}}trucks arriving, dispersing dust, and the {{popup zirkuszeltpre.jpg zirkuszeltpre 800×600}}construction of the {{popup zirkuszeltpre2.jpg zirkuszeltpre2 800×593}}tent.
P.S.: After adding this entry i noticed that it is the 23rd one. PH34R Illuminati!

again some slow days passed. one part of it was a lot of bad luck (car broke, dishwasher broke, police stopped me while driving a bit drunk, disinfection agent got in my right eye) the other part was fun: barbecue, chilling and lots of movies.
Movies:
From Hell: slow, stupid visual effects that tried to be hip but weren’t, unnecessary love story, hip absinth drinking, boring opium smoking, not scary just shock effects, story: stupid jack the ripper meets conspiracy stuff.
Fucking Åmål: very good amateur actors, feels like being 14 again, beautiful, interesting soundtrack, ending was fun, bit of documentary style camera.
North by Northwest: fun, very beautiful, nearly each picture was poster stuff, great anachronistic acting, sexist, i wonder why Eva Marie Saint did so many b movies later …
Tape: one room, three people, uma thurman was hot, resembles theatre, docu camera again, good cutting, enough surprise to recompense for the boring set, egoism, people are assholes.
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones: better than ep1 which was easy to do, very good but no surprising special fx, funny yoda, nice swordfighting, very bad acting in the “love” scenes, clishe ridden.
Donnie Darko: quite disturbing, fantastic, interesting, i think i like stories about outsiders, many allusions to other movies and books, well worth to watch a second time to understand it.

The Denic, the german institution for the registering of internet domains, published it’s statistic for ’01 today. The map shows the distribution of registered domains in relation to the population. So you can see where people rather tend to register domains, not where most people that have domains live.
People that like to own domains seem to prefer to live in cities. Or is the townsfolk more eager to register? Why do people in the countryside or in less populated areas register less domains? Why do city-dwellers register more?
I think the answers are less obvious than they seem at first glance.
Full report here.

Weather today was mostly rainy, but just before the sun went down the sky became clear and the light was beautiful.
We sat on a gangway for ships on the rhine. You can see {{popup 14-05-02-01.jpg 14-05-02-01 800×600}}Lars, {{popup 14-05-02-02.jpg 14-05-02-02 800×600}}a stranded whale, {{popup 14-05-02-03.jpg 14-05-02-03 800×600}}a ship at dusk (very inventive), and {{popup 14-05-02-04.jpg 14-05-02-04 600×800}}Verboten.
There is a video too, but you’ll need wmp7, quicktime or some other crap to play it i guess. In case of problems try to download it first by right-clicking on it and using the save-function of your browser.

today im very happy that i finally got a copy of gonzales‘ 7″inch “erotobot” released 2000 on the spanish indie label elefant. lot of people told me all kind of stuff, about gonzales and his releases, allmusic.com e.g. lists a 1999 gonzales output called “ozone e.p.”, which i couldn´t find/get anywhere, but actually they do not list this 7 inch, neither any other big inet shops/sources :) so chance might be good, that there is more stuff in some secret basements, if you do have any infos, feel free to email me. i appreciate !

I mentioned earlier that i really like Revelation Records, but what you probably don’t know is that their records (especially the test pressings, colored vinyls etc) reach awefull high prices in auctions. Seems like many people are into collecting this stuff.
This auction is special though, in its absurdity. At the moment I’m posting this the highest bid is US $3000 for a mint (that means “in new condition” in collectors language) test pressing of a Judge LP. Judge is a legendary 80ties New York Hardcore Band.
Jan, who brought this auction to my attention first also says: “What do you do with such a record? Pin it to the wall? You can’t even make a show of it, because everyone will know how much you paid for it and think that you’re crazy.”
If you still wanna see a really obsessive record collector go to Kevin Finn’s Homepage.
P.S.: I once paid a decent amount of money to get Akira 19, which is the series final episode and was out of print. It made perfect sense for me to pay a lot of money and i don’t regret it. You can see its cover {{popup akira19.jpg akira19 300×465}}here.
